in & around...
Summer is a bit of a sleepy time in New York as some of the locals get out of
town or extend “summer Fridays” into long weekends elsewhere. Profit from
their absence — while avoiding the fate of the hapless Midtown tourist — and
visit the New York that New Yorkers love (which may not include the newly
completed 9/11 memorial, pictured below, but which may well be worth a
pilgrimage). Visit the Chelsea galleries and then stroll up The High Line (also
pictured below), a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above
the New York streets. Visit some of the world’s greatest museums on the Upper
East Side. Grab barbecue in Koreatown. Lose yourself in the historic meandering streets of the West Village and walk down along the Hudson into TriBeCa.
Visit the East Village to experience the last of The City That Never Sleeps. Walk
over the Brooklyn Bridge and take in a sunset at the new waterfront park.
